Panthers fans were
shocked when favorite utility player Joe Webb was released by the
team. The Carolina Panthers released Joe Webb even though Cam Newton
was limited in the off and preseason due to shoulder surgery. The
Panthers did sign rookie quarterback Brad Kaaya formerly of the
Detroit Lions.
I do not think Joe
Webb is a very good quarterback. However I think Derek Anderson is a
terrible quarterback and not much better than Webb if at all. The
fact that Webb played special teams and can play wide receiver in a
pinch
Joe Webb was very
popular with Panthers fans and players alike. I can only guess that
Webb was released in a cost cutting move. Granted the Panthers would
not win many games with Joe Webb at quarterback but they won't with
Derek Anderson either.
